The role will guide the adoption of RUST throughout embedded development, manage integration or conversion of legacy software, provide best-practice and architectural guidance, and translate requirements into maintainable solutions for our C5 and Cyber Solution Centers. The engineer will work on a Scrum team, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive product and infrastructure strategy.Essential FunctionsSupport engineering team members in embedded software development specifically with RUST.Lead the adoption and deployment of RUST and associated techniques, idioms, design patterns, and tooling throughout multiple product lines.Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in software development for target hardware.Work closely with cross-functional members to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, operational performance requirements, and system design.Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, hardware-software integration, and formal testing.Investigate root causes of complex issues and implement solutions, working independently or with a multi-discipline team.Develop software test plans, procedures, and other relevant technical documentation.Utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, prototype, and evaluate results.Participate in peer reviews, identify, track, and repair defects.Utilize a variety of software languages (primarily RUST, C/C++, and Python) to develop code for embedded real-time operating systems (VxWorks, Linux, Integrity).Travel >30% to other L3Harris locations for onboarding, integration, or scrum.QualificationsU.S. citizenship with an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; graduate degree with a minimum of 1 year of experience; or in lieu of a degree a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.2+ years of experience developing RUST software for production systems with a deep understanding of the language.Experience with C/C++ development and object-oriented design.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Preferred Additional SkillsExperience converting C/C++ code to RUST.Experience developing and working with embedded systems.Experience developing RUST software for embedded systems.Object-oriented design and implementation experience, with exposure to software modeling and UML tools such as IBM Rhapsody or MagicDraw/Cameo.Experience developing device drivers and board support packages for real-time embedded systems.Experience with information assurance and/or cryptography.Experience with NSA Type 1 certification or other SW certification such as DO-178.Pay and BenefitsIn compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $111,500.00 – $207,500.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary; final offer may vary based on experience and geographic location.
