Landscape Services AssistantPurpose driven work: Your skills = funding that supports our urban forest and youth/young adults seeking greater economic security.At Tree Trust we focus on transforming lives and landscapes through three divisions: Career Pathways, Community Forestry, and Landscape Services.This position is located in our Landscape Services division which offers professional tree care and landscaping services at market rates with the profits supporting other Tree Trust programs including green industry skills and employment-readiness training to youth and young adults, and Twin Cities community urban canopy restoration initiatives.From simple projects to complex designs, Landscape Services has the experience to complete tree and landscape projects to the highest standards on time and on budget.Job Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the Property Maintenance team in daily operations involving commercial and residential property maintenance, quality control and safety. Assists in the completion of all landscape maintenance projects. Projects to include mowing, spring/fall cleanups, shrub and tree pruning, aeration, plantings, mulching, landscape bed enhancements and snow removal. This role may also support our Tree Care or Landscape Construction departments as needed.Essential Functions:Assists a crew in the delivery of all lawn maintenance services including mowing, line trimming, leaf pickup, lawn edging, aerating, shrub pruning, etc.Assists in general tree care (pruning, removal, vegetation management) during winter monthsAssists in snow removal which may include truck, skid and/or snowblower operationAssists in job preparation including loading of tools, equipment, and materialsHelps organize worksites for efficiency and safety; adheres to all Tree Trust safety policies and proceduresMaintains facility grounds by ensuring a well-organized and clean workspace including vehicles, trailers, and equipmentStrictly adhere to Tree Trust's safety policies and proceduresReceives openly all training including safety, equipment use, technique, etc.Always represents the company's best interest, maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalismMaintains a clean and safe job siteMaintains and cares for your personal or company provided equipment, tools, and vehiclesWorks as part of a team and takes directionUnderstands and meets contract scheduled deadlines without sacrificing quality or customer serviceKeeps accurate timesheet records, submitted for review and signoff by the required deadlinesPerforms other tasks or projects as assigned by Tree Trust managersQualifications/Skills Required:Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver license and a clean driving record as determined by our insurance carrierMust be able to pass a criminal background and motor vehicle checkMust possess and maintain MN DOT medical certificate within fifteen (15) days of hirePesticide applicators license or ability to obtain within 90 daysMust possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude and work well within a teamMust be able to take work direction and work well under pressure within a fast paced, deadline driven environmentMust be teachable, trainable and project a proactive attitude-always looking for the next way to find solutionsMust have strong communication skills and be an effective listenerMust be reliable, possess a positive attitude and be able to work independentlyMust be willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditionsPunctual and dependable with a can-do attitudeAbility to work effectively with individuals of differing backgrounds, knowledge, and skill levelsPreferred Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED; Degree in horticulture or similar fieldOne (1) year experience in property maintenanceExperience operating a variety of mowers, gas-powered tools, truck and trailer, plows etc.Knowledge of horticulture best practicesExperience with chainsaws, pole saws, power tools etc.Experience in heavy equipment operation such as skid steers and front-end loadersWork Environment: Job will require constantly working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to elements. This can include heavy to moderate noise, extreme proximity to moving equipment or machinery, proximity to electrical energy, exposure to tools and machines used in construction industries.Physical Demands: Physical demands require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Frequently ascends/descends a ladder to perform work. Frequently operates machinery and will use hands/fingers and legs to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect and position materials. Frequently required to stand and walk, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
