Trauma Registrar

Summary Maintains trauma registry database with accurate data abstraction, statistics and analysis. Compliance with standards set forth by governmental/regulatory agencies and professional organizations such as the Texas and New Mexico Departments of Human Health Services, American College of Surgeons and Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine. Skills 1. Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. 2. Ability to review and understand ICD-10 and Abbreviated Injury Score (AIS) coding. 3. Ability to review and understand medical terminology and extract medical information from both electronic and paper medical records. 4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Window applications to include word, excel and power point. 5. Possess excellent organizational skills and strong proficiency with attention to details. 6. Must be reliable, dependable and able to initiate and complete projects of moderate complexity with limited supervision. 7. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions. 8. Ability to analyze data abstracted from trauma registry and collaborate use for Trauma Programs performance improvement initiatives. Work Experience Two years of experience in a hospital regulatory agency or health related facility with medical data base experience required. License/Registration/Certification None Education and Training High school diploma or equivalent required. Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) course required within one year of being in the position.
