St. Vincent de Paul Staring Store Associate (FT)

Associate PositionThe associate contributes to fulfilling the mission of St. Vincent de Paul ("SVDP") through implementation of effective sales techniques and accurate management of point-of-sale operations. This position is responsible for executing cashiering functions with precision and integrity while providing exceptional customer service, including recovery and cleanliness of sales floor. The associate reports directly to the store manager and does not have any supervisory responsibilities.Minimum qualifications:High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferredPossess sufficient reading comprehension abilities to understand and implement established operational proceduresDisplay problem-solving capabilities and ability to work independently in a fast-paced retail environmentDemonstrate basic math and computer technology skillsShow respect for the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church and the mission of St. Vincent de PaulPhysical demands:Maintain ability to stand and ambulate for extended periods of up to eight (8) hours with appropriate rest periodsPerform manual dexterity tasks requiring use of hands and arms for reaching, grasping, and manipulating objectsUtilize verbal communication, auditory, and visual capabilities for extended durationsOccasionally assume seated positions, navigate stairs or inclines; and perform postural movements including stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawlingLift and move items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds on occasional basis unassistedLift and move items weighing up to fifty plus (50+) pounds on an occasional basis with assistanceWorking environment:Position may be structured as full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time based on operational needsWork environment includes both climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled warehouse and retail settingsSchedule flexibility required, including potential evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as necessitated by business requirementsPeriodic exposure to outdoor weather conditions may be necessaryTechnology competencies:Demonstrate proficiency with fundamental computer operations and standard office applicationsAccurately perform data entry tasks with attention to detailEffectively utilize various electronic communication platforms and toolsOperate point-of-sale (POS) systems with precision and efficiencyProperly use merchandise tagging equipment according to established protocolsCorrectly operate barcode scanning equipment and label generation devicesManage base printer operations and perform simple troubleshooting proceduresEssential job duties/performance standards:A. Merchandise management:Participate in merchandise preparation, including sorting, pricing, stocking, and creating appealing displaysEnsure sales floor remains organized, clean, and shoppable throughout business hoursMonitor and replenish operation supplies, including shopping bags, hangers, receipt paper, and packaging materialsProcess returned merchandise according to established proceduresC.
