Direct Support Professional
Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support and care to a young 7 year old with diverse needs to provide a break in care. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for those in our care, ensuring they receive the assistance necessary for daily living and personal development. We are looking for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and is comfortable with redirection. This position requires a commitment to fostering independence and particularly those who are autistic.
Responsibilities
- Assist client with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, safety awareness and communication through augmentative alternative communication device.
- Lift and assist client as needed, ensuring their safety during mobility tasks.
- Collaborate with families to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
Experience
- Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is preferred but not required.
- Experience working with individuals who are autistic.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with client and family.
- A willingness to learn and adapt.
