Technical Project Manager

Overview In this role you will support DOE's Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office by coordinating research, development, and demonstration activities for oil and natural gas programs. You will manage program planning, outreach, and cross-functional execution across site support contractors and Federal personnel. You’ll translate client needs into implementable plans, monitor progress, and mitigate risks to ensure timely delivery. The position combines federal advisory collaboration with hands-on project management to advance energy technology initiatives. ResponsibilitiesDefine projects and collect requirements to develop detailed implementation plansMaintain alignment across multiple activities and manage dependenciesDevelop risk mitigation plans and monitor program statusCoordinate cross-functional teams including contractors and federal personnelSupport outreach and program planning for DOE energy programsCommunicate effectively with analysts to senior leadershipEnsure adherence to FACA requirements and government/industry collaborationManage multiple projects with tight deadlines Key requirementsBachelor's degree in Business, Science, or Engineering or equivalent work history5+ years of related experienceUS citizenshipOn-site presence 2–3 days per week at the Forrestal Building in DCFamiliarity with Federal Advisory Committees and FACA requirementsStrong interpersonal and cross-disciplinary communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and project teamsAbility to listen, interpret needs, and translate into resources and resultsExperience supervising othersPMP certification preferred; working toward CAPM or PMP requiredstrong interpersonal communicationcross-functional collaborationattention to detailprogram managementrisk mitigationrequirements gathering
