Personal Lines - Underwriter - Motion Specialty
This position will be working in a niche market within our Personal Lines Division. The person in this position will be working with affluent clientele on high value product placement. This position will review, analyze, and inspect insurance contracts while collecting competitive data to analyze our program’s place within the market.
Job Responsibilities:
Underwrite High Value Homeowners (“HVH”) risks on behalf of Motion Specialty by understanding the risk appetite and rating of the product.
Develop a thorough understanding of the product policy wording and help to enhance our proposition in line with the wider HVH market.
Analyze inspection reports, location, risk, credit reports, etc to accept or reject new/renewal property and casualty business.
Performs wholesale agency visits to solicit feedback on our service standards, our competition, and to build a professional relationship with our wholesale partners
Achieve mutually agreed upon sales goals
Travels to both agencies & company conventions
Comfortable discussing team goals & actively participating in achieving them
Maintain company education requirements & pursues education to enhance insurance knowledge
Adhere to company-wide service standards
Knowledge of the independent agency system and economics
Develop and maintain effective relationships with carrier partners.
Demonstrate accountability for the assigned territory by being innovative and identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement in results.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Directs and leads the work of their team and teammates
Set premium expectations
Obtain competitor data to analyze how our programs fit with regards to:
o Rate, Policy Form, Ease of Use etc.
Monitor product using management information and know who the competition is and where our product fits in the marketplace.
Participate in setting premium goals region and wholesale distribution partner
Education and Work Experience:
1 to 3 years of insurance experience, underwriting experience preferred
AND an RMI degree or CPCU, or PLCS, or a graduate degree
OR 3 years of experience in P&C Underwriting or related field
Personal Lines experience and experience with affluent clientele/High Value Product experience is preferred.
