OUR MISSION: To fulfill President Lincoln's promise "To care for those who have served in our nation's military and for their families, caregivers, and survivors" - by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's Veterans.How would you like to become a part of a team providing compassionate whole health care to Veterans?The function of the Nursing Assistant (NA) is to assist the professional and licensed staff by performing various activities and related nonprofessional activities needed to assure the provision of quality care to a culturally diverse Veteran population of varying complexity at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center. This includes care for patients/residents receiving inpatient and outpatient services, home or community living care, and patients/residents receiving care in the MHRRTP.Major Duties:Assists the MHRRTP Program Manager in the daily aspects of the MHRRTP by performing administrative tasks such as receiving, orienting, and discharging residents, maintaining and enforcing discipline, safety, health and security measures of the residents according to policy and procedures of the medical center, MHRRTP programs, and interdisciplinary treatment decisions.Performs administrative work in support of care and treatment of residents such as processing passes, assuring linen is available, monitoring resident logs, keys are accounted for, and assisting residents with room problems.Orients newly admitted residents by explaining domiciliary policies, procedures and expectations.Assists residents regarding problems and/or compliance and informs treatment team members as neededPerforms hazardous items checks of resident's belongings upon admission and as needed and documents findings in appropriate location.Escorts of patients to/from Main hospital if needed.Conducts daily room inspections for health welfare, safety and security purposes and documents findings in the appropriate location.Initiates appropriate corrective actions for identified problems and follows up to ensure complete resolution.Conducts bed checks and rounds in accordance with MHRRTP guidelines.Monitors cafeteria during meal times and enforces cafeteria rules.Covers front security desk as needed.Brings problems and concerns to the attention of management for resolution when the incumbent cannot resolve on their own.Completes all tasks assigned for the shift.Treats staff, visitors and residents with a variety of physical, mental, emotional and behaviors problems in a courteous and positive manner and conforms to ethical standards.Documents patient behaviors, concerns, and observations in the electronic health record.Work Schedule: Full-time on PM's/2nd shift with weekend and Federal holiday rotation required.Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement): Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional
