Role Description COMARCO Products is seeking a full-time Manufacturing Sanitation Supervisor to join our on-site team in Palatka, FL. The Supervisor will oversee and coordinate sanitation processes to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards within the manufacturing facility. Daily responsibilities include supervising sanitation teams, managing cleaning schedules, training staff on safety and sanitation protocols, and collaborating with Quality Assurance teams to meet regulatory compliance. The role also involves monitoring equipment cleanliness, implementing improvements, and maintaining accurate records. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage, and coordinate the sanitation team to ensure all facility areas consistently meet or exceed sanitation, hygiene, and SQF prerequisite program requirements. Develop, implement, and maintain Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS) and SSOPs aligned with HACCP, GMP, and SQF requirements. Ensure all equipment, production areas, storage areas, and common spaces are cleaned and sanitized according to validated procedures. Verify sanitation effectiveness through visual inspections, ATP results, environmental monitoring data, and corrective action follow‑up. Oversee proper selection, storage, dilution, and use of sanitation chemicals in compliance with chemical control, SDS, and food safety requirements. Ensure sanitation activities support allergen control, foreign material prevention, and environmental monitoring programs. Team Leadership & Development Supervise, train, and develop sanitation team members to ensure competency in sanitation procedures, chemical handling, GMPs, and food safety expectations. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective guidance as needed. Promote a strong food safety and sanitation culture by reinforcing accountability, attention to detail, and compliance with SQF requirements. Ensure sanitation personnel consistently follow PPE, hygiene, and safety procedures. SQF, Regulatory Compliance & Food Safety Own and manage sanitation‑related SQF prerequisite programs, including SSOPs, chemical control, allergen sanitation, and sanitation verification. Support FSQA leadership by ensuring sanitation programs are implemented, documented, and audit‑ready at all times. Participate in internal audits, SQF audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections, providing sanitation records, observations, and corrective action support. Investigate sanitation‑related non‑conformances, environmental positives, or contamination risks and implement corrective and preventive actions in coordination with FSQA. Ensure sanitation documentation meets SQF requirements for accuracy, verification, record retention, and traceability. Process Improvement & Cross‑Functional Coordination Identify opportunities to improve sanitation effectiveness, reduce downtime, and increase efficiency while maintaining food safety and SQF compliance. Work closely with Production and Maintenance to schedule sanitation activities, support changeovers, and address equipment design or repair issues impacting cleanability. Support validation and re‑validation of sanitation procedures following equipment changes, new products, or process modifications. Implement continuous improvement initiatives, including new sanitation technologies, methods, or chemicals. Health, Safety & Environmental Controls Enforce plant safety protocols related to sanitation, including lockout/tagout, confined space, chemical handling, and PPE requirements. Investigate sanitation‑related accidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions and implement corrective and preventive actions. Ensure proper waste handling, wastewater controls, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements. Reporting & Documentation Maintain accurate sanitation records, including SSOP logs, pre‑op inspections, chemical usage, corrective actions, and verification results. Track and report sanitation KPIs, audit findings, and program effectiveness to leadership. Analyze sanitation and environmental data trends to drive proactive improvements and risk reduction. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent (required). Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Environmental Health, or a related field (preferred). Experience Minimum of 5 years of sanitation management experience in a food manufacturing environment. Strong working knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, FDA, and sanitation best practices. Proven experience leading sanitation teams and managing sanitation programs in audit‑driven environments. Experience with sanitation chemicals, CIP/COP systems, and sanitation verification methods. Skills & Competencies Strong leadership, communication, and team‑building skills. Deep understanding of sanitation’s role in food safety systems and SQF compliance. Ability to analyze sanitation data, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and sanitation or maintenance tracking systems. Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to work in wet, cold, hot, and chemical‑use environments while adhering to safety standards. Ability to operate sanitation equipment such as pressure washers, foaming units, and CIP systems. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or off‑shift hours as required.
