Withum’s Tax Services Group is a team of tax specialists who ensure reporting obligations are met accurately and on time while minimizing or deferring payments. Their comprehensive understanding of international, U.S. federal, state, and local regulations—along with our affiliation with HLB International—allows them to develop economical tax strategies anywhere. Services include business, individual, state & local tax, R&D tax credit, and international and private client services.
This Tax Senior Manager role will be based out of one of our Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, San Ramon, San Diego offices in California, or New York or Whippany, New Jersey. You will work alongside seasoned CPAs and industry leaders, taking a lead role on all aspects of tax engagements from planning to completion. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring staff, building and maintaining client relationships, and driving strategic tax solutions.

How You’ll Spend Your Time
Lead the review of complex high‑net‑worth individual, fiduciary, gift, estate, and other tax returns, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic planning.
Conduct advanced tax research and draft technical memoranda addressing complex issues.
Design and implement tax planning strategies that optimize wealth preservation, charitable giving, and succession planning for founders and tech executives.
Serve as a trusted advisor, managing client relationships through proactive communication, strategic consultation, and responsive service.
Mentor and supervise staff, fostering technical development, accountability, and a collaborative team culture.
Collaborate with partners and senior leadership on client engagements, thought leadership, and business development initiatives.
Ensure compliance with evolving federal, state, and local tax regulations, staying ahead of legislative changes and industry trends.
Contribute to process improvement, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Engage in firm‑wide initiatives, including innovation projects, marketing efforts, and continuing education programs that support Withum’s dynamic and inclusive culture.
The Kinds of People We Want to Talk to Have Many of The Following
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
CPA, JD, LLM, or MST required.
Minimum of 8+ years of professional services experience.
Industry knowledge within the technology/startup and emerging growth sector a plus.
Demonstrated strategic leadership; defining market opportunities, creating a strategic plan, deploying capabilities.
Demonstrated process creation; adept at developing and deploying best‑of‑breed business development and relationship‑management practices.
Outstanding multitasking skills and organization.

Must be solution‑oriented.
California ranges are $135,000 – $230,000. New Jersey ranges are $130,000 – $230,000. New York City range is $150,000 – $225,000. In addition to base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program for eligible roles, based on individual and firm performance.
