application development, software engineering, and maintenance of complex enterprise systems.Minimum 8–10 years of hands-on experience in Java/J2EE application development for large-scale, mission-critical enterprise applications.Demonstrated experience serving as an Application Developer, Senior Java Developer, Software Engineer, or similar role supporting enterprise application enhancements and production support.Proven experience participating in analysis, functional design, development, code review, issue triage, testing, and implementation support for enterprise systems and sub-systems.Strong expertise in Java programming using enterprise frameworks, design patterns, and secure coding standards in support of complex application development.Experience developing, enhancing, maintaining, and troubleshooting multi-tier enterprise applications in large organizational environments.Demonstrated ability to analyze business and technical requirements and convert them into effective technical designs and coding solutions.Experience participating in Joint Application Requirements (JAR) and Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions with business users, SMEs, analysts, developers, testers, and technical staff.Proven ability to provide technical input and sign-off support for business requirements documents, design artifacts, and requirements traceability matrices.Strong experience coding system enhancements and supporting enterprise application changes from design through implementation and testing.Experience conducting code walkthroughs, peer reviews, and providing guidance to team members on programming best practices, coding standards, and maintainable design.Demonstrated ability to analyze and triage production issues and defects to determine root cause, level of effort, and appropriate technical resolution.Experience evaluating and recommending design alternatives and implementation options based on business requirements and technical constraints.Proven experience creating and maintaining technical artifacts, including technical design documents, code documentation, interface specifications, support documentation, and related implementation materials.Strong experience supporting unit testing, assembly testing, system testing, and defect remediation, as well as providing support for User Acceptance Testing (UAT).Experience collaborating with developers, architects, testers, business analysts, and program staff to resolve defects, support releases, and implement enhancements.Demonstrated ability to perform or support data fixes, database updates, and application corrections in support of production and testing needs.Experience with relational databases, SQL, and backend data validation to support application functionality, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.Experience working in both waterfall and agile delivery environments, including structured documentation, development, testing, and release support processes.Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), release management, source control, build/deployment practices, and environment support procedures.Ability to prepare status updates, maintain technical documentation, and communicate technical issues and resolutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Experience ensuring application development work complies with IT policies, standards, procedures, security requirements, and development guidelines.Experience supporting enterprise systems in financial systems, pension systems, benefits administration, accounting systems, or other regulated transactional environments.Prior experience working in government, public sector, or highly regulated environments is highly desirable.Familiarity with public sector documentation standards, review processes, quality controls, and compliance expectations is preferred.Demonstrated experience providing knowledge transfer through collaborative documentation, code commenting, walkthroughs, cross-training, job shadowing, and lessons learned sessions.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is preferredDesired QualificationsExperience developing and supporting Java-based financial or pension administration systems.Experience with State of California departments, CalPERS, CalSTRS, or other public sector enterprise environments.Experience supporting legacy and modernized enterprise Java applications in complex, high-volume transactional systems.Experience with approved enterprise Java frameworks, middleware, and integration patterns commonly used in government environments.Experience supporting systems that require strong security, auditability, data integrity, and regulatory
