Marshall Public Schools is dedicated to our mission, "To create ONE equitable, inclusive and innovative educational community."NATURE OF POSITION:The paraprofessional will assist in the educational needs of students and serve as backup, when needed, to support the classroom in the absence of teachers.QUALIFICATIONS:Associates Degree; OR 60+ credit hours from a degree granting college/universityAbility to receive a substitute permit from the State of MichiganCertification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), preferred but not requiredParental experience desired but not requiredAbility to work well with children and adultsMaintain a general interest in helping children in their educational processCalm and patient demeanorRESPONSIBILITIES:The nature of the responsibilities listed are a reflection of the job and are not intended to be all-inclusiveAssist in individual or small group pupil instructionAssist classroom teacher(s) in maintaining discipline and supervision in the classroomAssist in escorting students to and from various rooms, when necessaryDemonstrate initiative and creativity with student(s)Serve as substitute teacher in the event of a lack of teacher coverage in the buildingAdhere to district health and safety proceduresPerform other related duties that may be assigned by the principal and/or classroom teacher(s)
