We’re hiring a Agent Engineer to partner with customers and internal teams to design and deploy scalable AI agent architectures. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer success and is responsible for translating business requirements into technically sound architectures that drive successful enterprise deployments.What You’ll Do30 Day:Ramp on Vapi’s platform architecture, APIs, and agent capabilitiesShadow customer deployments and technical discovery callsLearn the technical architecture of current enterprise customer implementations60 Day:Lead technical discovery with customers and design solution architecturesBuild rapid prototypes using AI-assisted development toolsProduce architecture diagrams and technical documentation for customer deployments90 Day:Own end-to-end technical design for enterprise deploymentsArchitect complex integrations using APIs, webhooks, and event-driven systemsPartner with engineering and product to identify platform improvements from customer feedbackWho You Are5+ years in solutions architecture, pre-sales engineering, technical consulting, or similar customer-facing technical rolesStrong ability to translate business requirements into technically sound solutions and communicate effectively with both engineers and executivesExperience owning end-to-end customer engagements and delivering complex technical solutions with measurable outcomesComfortable working with enterprise customers ($240K+ ACV) in complex stakeholder environmentsAutonomous and self-directed, able to scope, design, and drive solutions independentlyTechnical Strengths:Proficiency in agent design and AI-assisted development, including rapid prototyping using tools such as Claude Code, Cowork, or similar developer toolingExperience designing agentic workflows including tool use, function calling, and multi-step reasoning chainsStrong experience architecting API-first integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven systemsProficiency in at least one programming language such as Python or JavaScriptExperience working with conversational AI, voice or telephony platforms, NLP/NLU systems, or LLM-based applicationsBonus:Experience with SIP or WebRTCExperience with CPaaS platforms such as Twilio, Vonage, or GenesysWhy VapiGenerational impact: Build the human interface for every businessOwnership culture: 70% of the company are previous foundersKind team: The founders, Jordan and Nikhil, are CanadiansTier-1 Investors: YC, KP seed, Bessemer Series AWhat We OfferReal stake: We offer a competitive salary and excellent equity ownershipComprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision plansTeam love: We love hanging out, and we do quarterly off-sitesFlexible time off: take what you needMore: catered meals, transportation, gym, and a $10k annual L&D budget
