Senior Design EngineerLocation: OnsiteIndustry: Oil & Gas / Drilling TechnologyEmployment Type: Full-TimeOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team focused on the design and development of advanced drill bits and downhole drilling technologies. This onsite role is ideal for a highly analytical engineer with strong experience in mechanical design, product development, and performance optimisation within the oil & gas sector.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of advanced drill bits and downhole tools from concept through to manufacturing.Produce detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.Carry out engineering analysis including FEA, CFD, stress, thermal, and hydraulic simulations.Analyse field wear and drilling performance data to identify root causes and improve product performance.Work closely with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.Maintain BOMs, ECOs, and ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards.Support continuous improvement and product innovation initiatives.RequirementsDegree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.Minimum 10 years' experience in mechanical or design engineering.Strong hands-on experience designing drill bits, downhole tools, or oil & gas drilling equipment is essential.Proficient with CAD software and engineering analysis tools including FEA and CFD packages.Strong understanding of mechanical design, hydraulics, materials, and structural analysis.Ability to interpret drilling and operational performance data to drive design improvements.What's on OfferOpportunity to work on advanced drilling technologies within a highly technical engineering environment.Collaborative onsite culture with direct involvement in product innovation and development.Long-term career progression within a growing engineering business.
