Immigration Associate Attorney
Job description
The ideal candidate is motivated, self-driven, possesses excellent writing skills and is committed to long-term growth within our firm. We seek a reliable and intelligent attorney who does not want the hassle of an independent practice and has a genuine interest in immigration justice.
This position is challenging, requiring great persistence. If you tend to give up easily or are overly sensitive, this position is not for you, as the work can be demanding and emotionally taxing.
We do not work banker hours; our team stays until the job is done. If you value flexibility, quality work and dedication over a set schedule, this is the right job for you.
You will also work closely with an immigration attorney with over 20 years of experience. If you are ready to lead by example and zealously advocate for our clients, we strongly encourage you to apply.
Qualifications:
*Must be licensed to practice law in California
*Bilingual communication in both English and Spanish are required.
*Must possess at least two years of immigration experience as a licensed attorney
*Experience drafting successful EOIR and 9th Circuit appeals.
Oral arguments before the 9th Circuit are a plus.
*Experience in formulating winning asylum arguments for both affirmative and defensive asylum applications.
*Experience in advocating for clients at asylum interviews and in proceedings before the EOIR.
*Experience in formulating winning U-Visa certification arguments, as well as reattempting certification with law enforcement agencies or judges after an initial denial
*Experience representing minors in SIJS hearings and preparing all necessary documents for the case
*Experience filing VAWA applications for both spouses of LPR's/USC's and PARENTS of USC's
*Experience attending AOS, NATZ, I-751, and I-130 interviews, where you effectively advocate for clients, maintain control of the situation, and ensure that immigration officers do not overstep or act indecisively.
*Experience with all other forms of family and removal-based immigration applications and processes.
*Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
*Highly detail oriented.
*Experience handling a large caseload.
*Excellent bedside manner with clients and the ability to provide the layman's explanations required for them to understand their own cases.
If clients do not understand what we are doing for them, you are not doing your job correctly.
*Assist with initial consultations if needed.
*Experience using and navigating case management software.
*Assist in the supervision of the USCIS and EOIR departments.
*Responsible, punctual, articulate, fast-learner, self-motivated, team player.
Responsibilities:
*Manage a large caseload.
*Excellent written and oral skills are essential, as this position involves effectively communicating with clients and working closely with them to prepare their cases and filings.
This includes but is not limited to briefing, reviewing documents, drafting declarations, and addressing client questions and concerns about their plan of action.
*Appear before EOIR, USCIS, correspond with other government agencies, social workers, and medical professionals to obtain necessary evidence to help advocate for our clients.
*While some training will be provided as required, applicants must be prepared to "hit the ground running."
*Draft applications, motions, waivers, delcarations, briefs, and any other writing needed.
*Effectively document client communication and case notes.
