About Made 2 FireMade 2 Fire is a community-focused ceramics studio in Fremont, offering 6-week beginner and intermediate wheel-throwing and hand-building classes, as well as weekend pottery experiences for adults.Position SummaryWe are looking for an outgoing, patient Ceramics Instructor who loves teaching adults and helping beginners feel confident on the wheel. You will lead 6-week courses and weekend one time beginner classes, covering basic forming, trimming, glazing, and firing fundamentals in a friendly, supportive environment.Key ResponsibilitiesTeach wheel throwing and/or hand-building classes for adults.Demonstrate techniques clearly and provide hands-on guidance to students during class.Introduce students to studio safety, basic tool use, clay recycling and glaze etiquette.Advise students on forms, surface design, and glazing choices; help them finish pieces successfully.Coordinate with studio staff on bisque and glaze firing timelines so students receive their work on time.Maintain a clean, organized classroom area after each class (wiping wheels, tools, tables, and floors as needed).Communicate with the studio owner about class feedback, supply needs, and student progress.Required QualificationsStrong personal ceramics practice with solid wheel-throwing skills; able to center, pull, and finish basic forms (cups, bowls, cylinders) confidently.At least 1 year of teaching or coaching experience (formal classes, workshops, or small-group instruction).Comfortable working with beginners and mixed-skill groups; patient, encouraging, and able to explain clearly.Basic knowledge of electric kiln firing and studio safety, or willingness to learn.Preferred QualificationsExperience teaching in community studios, art centers, or college/community education programs.Knowledge of glaze application and firing schedules.BFA/MFA in Ceramics or related field is a plus but not required.Schedule & CompensationClasses are typically scheduled on weekday evenings and weekends; exact schedule to be discussed based on studio needs.Competitive hourly rate or per-course stipend, based on experience.
