Accounting SpecialistThe Accounting Specialist supports project-based accounting and financial operations, with a focus on billing, accounts receivable, job cost tracking, and compliance. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial data, timely invoicing, and consistent processes across project and accounting functions.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and manage invoicing for project-related and customer billing activity, ensuring accuracy and timelinessServe as a point of contact for customer billing questions, pricing inquiries, and tax-related itemsMonitor accounts receivable aging and assist with collections follow-upTrack and record incoming payments across multiple payment types to ensure proper applicationReview and reconcile job costs, including labor and expense allocationsPartner with internal teams to investigate and resolve discrepanciesCode expenses, invoices, and credit card transactions to appropriate jobs and cost categoriesAssist with subcontractor payment processes, including review of pay applications and supporting documentationSupport payroll-related requirements tied to project work as neededMaintain tax-exempt documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliancePrepare and track lien waivers and related documentationSupport regulatory requirements such as licensing, registrations, and renewalsAssist with prequalification and compliance documentation as neededProvide support on ad hoc projects and cross-functional initiativesAssist with process improvements and maintaining efficient workflowsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting required2+ years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, or accounting supportConstruction or project-based accounting experience preferredExperience with ERP systems; construction-related systems a plusStrong Excel skills and ability to manage and reconcile dataStrong attention to detail and accuracyOrganized and able to manage multiple prioritiesProactive and solutions-orientedClear and professional communication skillsReliable with a strong sense of ownership
