Job Description: Permit Technician (Building & Safety) Location: Los Angeles County surrounding areas (Onsite) Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM Pay: $30.00–$37.00/hr Job Description We are hiring Permit Technicians to support a municipal Building & Safety office. This role supports permit processing, document intake, customer service, and basic plan/document review to ensure compliance with building codes and local regulations. Key Responsibilities Assist customers in person and by phone (contractors, homeowners, architects, engineers) Process permit applications and construction documents Issue permits and support plan check workflows Calculate and collect permit fees, track payments, and maintain accurate records Use automated permitting/permit tracking systems Prepare basic reports and support administrative tasks as needed Requirements / Must-Haves High School Diploma or GED 2+ years of experience as a Permit Technician (or equivalent) Experience processing permit applications and supporting plan check Experience using an automated permit tracking system Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to interpret basic building records and plans Code certification required Comfortable using computers (spreadsheets, permitting tools) Valid CA Driver’s License (may be required)
