This role will focus on a flagship proprietary software platform and will contribute to the modernization and future development of the technology.The Associate Software Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain application logic while working closely with product owners, application engineers, customer support, and business users. The role provides an opportunity to contribute to software modernization initiatives and explore the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence to enhance future product capabilities.This is an on-site position in La Crosse, Wisconsin, with employees working on-site Monday through Thursday and having flexibility to choose their work location on Fridays based on business needs.ResponsibilitiesDesign, create, and maintain application logicDevelop and implement software solutions based on customer and business requirementsIdentify application bottlenecks, defects, and performance issuesDevelop effective solutions to resolve technical issues and improve application performanceEnsure applications maintain high levels of quality, responsiveness, and reliabilityDevelop routine software tests and coordinate testing activitiesEstablish and improve Software Quality Assurance processes using industry best practicesCollaborate with product owners, application engineers, and customer support teamsParticipate in code reviews and contribute to technical knowledge sharingCommunicate with business users across different levels of the organizationAnalyze customer-driven business requirements and translate them into software solutionsSupport both front-end and back-end development activitiesContribute to UI/UX and basic prototype developmentApply Agile practices throughout software development activitiesUse test and defect management tools to track and resolve software issuesStay current with emerging software development technologies and industry trendsExplore opportunities to incorporate machine learning and artificial intelligence into future product capabilitiesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or a related IT fieldApproximately 3+ years of relevant work experience preferredUnderstanding of the software development lifecycleExperience with Microsoft .NET Framework and C#Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databasesExperience with web browser-based developmentKnowledge of technologies such as Blazor, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and XML/XSLTAbility to work across both front-end and back-end developmentStrong project management, planning, organizational, analytical, and time-management skillsExperience with software testing and defect managementKnowledge of tools such as ALM and JiraFamiliarity with Agile development practices preferredBasic understanding of UI/UX and prototype designStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and effectively within collaborative teamsStrong problem-solving skills and willingness to take initiativeKnowledge of HVAC systems and equipment is a plusBenefitsCompetitive annual salary of approximately $72,928-$101,570Benefits effective from Day One for employees and their familiesHealth insurance and holistic wellness programsFamily-building benefits, including fertility and adoption/surrogacy assistancePaid vacation, holidays, and sick leave401(k) matching opportunitiesEducational and professional development programsTuition assistance and student debt supportOpportunities to work with emerging technologies including AI and machine learningCollaborative environment focused on innovation and continuous improvementFlexible Friday work-location arrangements based on business and team requirementsEqual OpportunityTrane Technologies is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
