Financial Analysis & Reporting Senior Manager
OVERVIEW:The D. E. Shaw group seeks a leader with impressive commercial judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills to join its Financial Analysis & Reporting (FA&R) team within Financial Operations (FinOp). FA&R delivers forward-looking financial analysis, actionable business insights, and reporting to support strategic decision-making across the firm. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with executive leadership, shape financial planning processes, and drive improvements in analytical capabilities and reporting standards.WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY: Lead cross-functional and firmwide projects to address key business strategy questions through rigorous financial analysis. Drive development and maintenance of the firm’s financial forecasts, ensuring robust scenario planning and budgeting processes. Manage the creation of recurring and ad hoc financial reporting for the firm’s senior leadership, translating complex results into clear, actionable insights. Assess key drivers of revenue, expenses, capital needs, and other financial outcomes to inform business decisions. Build and enhance scalable models, tools, and reporting frameworks to improve data quality, efficiency, and decision support. WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR: Eight or more years of experience in strategic finance or related roles in alternative asset management, investment banking, or similar environments, along with a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, computer science, or a related field. Demonstrated proficiency in financial modeling and willingness to engage deeply in both high-level strategy and detailed financial work while maintaining a hands-on approach. Exceptional commercial judgment and learning agility, with a track record of supporting executive-level decision-making. Excellent communication skills, including comfort presenting to senior audiences and distilling complex information into clear recommendations. Experience managing sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. The expected annual base salary for this position is $225,000 to $300,000.
