This role will work closely with senior leadership, bank partners, and cross-functional teams to support Novo’s legal, regulatory, and product initiatives.You will play a key role in navigating complex regulatory environments, advising on product development, and ensuring Novo operates in compliance with applicable financial laws and partner requirements.About the role:Partner with product, compliance, and business teams to provide practical legal guidance on product development and regulatory requirementsServe as a key legal point of contact for bank partner relationships, supporting ongoing regulatory and contractual mattersInterpret and advise on U.S. banking regulations, including customer protection frameworks such as UDAAPSupport the management of litigation matters, including coordination with external counselDraft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial agreements and partner contractsProvide clear, business-oriented legal advice to senior management and cross-functional stakeholdersSupport internal teams on regulatory change management and implementationAssist with employment and HR-related legal matters as neededRequirements for the role:5–8 years of legal experience, preferably within fintech, banking, or financial servicesStrong knowledge of U.S. banking regulations, including customer protection and payments-related frameworksExperience working with or advising on bank partnership models or sponsor bank relationshipsProven ability to manage external counsel and complex legal mattersExcellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidanceStrong problem-solving skills and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environmentEntrepreneurial mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and support a growing startupPreferred qualifications:Experience working in a fintech or startup environmentBackground in product counseling within regulated industriesExposure to payments, lending, or embedded finance productsCombination of law firm and in-house experience
