Diploma or Equivalent Hours: Shift Start Time: 8 AM Shift End Time: 4:30 PM AWS Hours Requirement: 8/40 - 8 Hour Shift Additional Shift Information: Part Time - 8 hour shift Weekend Requirements: No Weekends On-Call Required: No Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $30.164 - $37.705 - $45.246 The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices. What You Will Do: Provides for the stocking, organization, and maintenance of all orthopedic- related equipment and supplies. Works under the direction of physicians in applying and adjusting specific orthopedic devices. Exhibits high-level communication skills that enhance customer service. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to augment the clinician's ability to provide high quality patient care. Displays the ability to work independently, meet quality goals and resolving issues. Transports supplies and equipment from one clinical area to another. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and skills in serving orthopedic patient demands. Required Qualifications Orthopedic Technologist Certified (OTC) - National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists -REQUIRED Preferred Qualifications H.S. Diploma or Equivalent 2 Years Hospital or similar experience Essential Functions Assesses orthopedic plans In collaboration with other patient care units, assesses need for orthopedic supplies and equipment (i.e. traction, CPM, fracture table, bed trapeze, casting materials, etc.) to meet the clinical needs of the patients. In collaboration with interdisciplinary staff, plans and coordinates delivery and application of supplies and equipment per patient demands. Responds to urgent or emergent orthopedic patient care needs per on-call policy. Supplies and equipment are stocked, organized, and identified to ensure availability. Coordinates staff education for implementation of new equipment or supplies in conjunction with Physicians and/or vendors. Budget management Proactively communicate with other healthcare team members to provide information relevant to the financial issues associated with equipment and supplies. Completes patient charges/billing and credits procedures per policy. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in ordering of equipment/supplies to meet objectives (e.g. preferred vendors, par levels, etc.). Physician orders Seeks individualized patient information/instructions and goals from physician orders. Clarifies, validates expectations or plan with physician or nurse if questions about best practices, size of equipment, individualized application needs, etc. Clarifies, validates patient's and/or family's understanding of the plan and addresses questions and concerns. Applies orthopedic equipment per orders, hospital policy, and manufacturer's guidelines. Reports back if unable to complete orders/plan of care due to conflicting priorities, unfamiliar with procedure, patient condition, etc. Documents procedures, care, and teaching per standards. Plan of care Maintains competency with orthopedic devices and procedures utilized within the organization. Monitors the patient, staff, and clinical areas on daily rounds for potential impediments to patient progress or changes in patient status and/or care needs. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team if changes in the plan of care indicated. Trouble-shoots, adjusts, modifies or develops adaptive devices to maximize effectiveness of patient orthopedic equipment and supplies. Collaborates to assure that interdisciplinary staff are skilled or have resources necessary to support patient's progress towards goals. Prioritizes workflow and responds to emergent changes in patients' orthopedic equipment/supply demands. Documents procedures, care, and teaching per standards. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of orthopedic procedures, equipment, and casting materials. Understanding of human anatomy and physiology preferred.
