Senior VACE Specialist (Clerk of the Court and Comptroller)

Minimum Qualifications High School Graduate or GED. Four years of advanced clerical and public contact experience. Recruitment Notes POSITION SUMMARY The Senior VACE Specialist provides administrative and clerical support to the Department of Value Adjustment Board (VAB) and Code Enforcement (CE) within the Clerk of Courts and Comptroller's Office. Responsibilities include receiving and verifying VAB petitions and CE appeals, processing filing fees, and preparing hearing notices and correspondence. The position involves data entry and retrieval in specialized systems, compiling statistical reports, and maintaining case files. The Senior VACE Specialist also attests to legal documents, manages incoming and outgoing mail, and responds to public and agency inquiries. Additional duties include attending hearings to assist Special Magistrates and Hearing Officers with their quasi-judicial functions, performing case audits, and supporting related administrative tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the VAB and Code Enforcement processes. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS College-level coursework. Experience related to legal courtroom proceedings. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Attending hearings and providing administrative support to Special Magistrates and Hearing Officers. Managing incoming and outgoing mail. Filing and retrieving case files and performing in-house audits. Providing assistance and support to members of the public in various situations. Receiving and processing filing fees, or other financial transactions. Scheduling appeals and Special Magistrates & Hearing Officers. Processing administrative tasks, such as settlements, reconsiderations, duplicates, etc. Compiling and generating statistical and case-related reports. Responding to inquiries from the public, legal professionals, and County agencies both in person and by phone. Audits of Fact-Finding Sheets. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Strong communication & organizational skills. Understanding of Florida Department of Revenue Rules and Chapter 8CC of the County Code of Ordinances. Knowledge of effective public customer service. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other commonly used programs in an office setting. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with extended periods at a computer. Occasional travel may be required to support departmental needs or external events. May involve moderate lifting (up to 25 lbs). NOTE This description is a representative summary of major job duties.
