Job Profile SummaryThe Senior Director of Development is responsible for securing and managing major gifts of $ 25,000 and above, and leadership gifts of $100,000 and above, from a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation prospects. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Advancement , this role is central to advancing the fundraising goals of Broward College by developing tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that align with institutional priorities.The Senior Director of Development works collaboratively with colleagues across the Advancement team, as well as Pathway Deans, faculty, and other academic and administrative leaders, to cultivate meaningful donor relationships that support programs, scholarships, and College initiatives. This position also supports and mentors other major gift officers and partners with academic leadership to translate programmatic needs into compelling philanthropic opportunities.Additionally, the Director of Development supports the Vice President, Advancement, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Broward College Foundation in cultivating and stewarding principal gift prospects ($1.5 million+). This role requires a high level of external engagement and a relationship-driven approach to fundraising.Minimum Education:Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.CFRE preferred.Minimum Experience/Training:Ten years of relevant fundraising, sales and/or non-profit experience.Essential Functions:Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, and solicits a portfolio of prospects approved by the CEO/Vice President, serving as the primary prospect manager. Develops and implements engagement strategies aligned with donor interests and College priorities.Ensures donor records and prospect strategies are current and accurately maintained in the Advancement database. Collaborates with internal partners to support consistent donor outreach, stewardship, and gift planning efforts.Supports the College's strategic plan and presidential initiatives through philanthropic engagement and related Advancement activities.Performs related duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of fundraising principles and major gift solicitation.Knowledge of deferred giving vehicles and changes in regulations that impact IRAs, inheritance tax, etc.Ability to stay current with IRS changes and changes with State of Florida regulations in relation to fundraising.Requires the ability to present and disseminate data to various levels.Requires advanced knowledge of computerized systems and operating environments i.e. Microsoft Office products and specialized computer systems (Raiser's Edge preferred).Our Culture - At Broward College, our leaders embody a culture of competence, care, character, composure, and courage.
