Position Summary National OnDemand, Inc. is a communications and utilities infrastructure provider delivering service solutions across the Fiber, Wireless, Energy, and Technology sectors in the United States. As a Fiber Splicer, you will ensure the reliability and performance of fiber optic networks through the preparation, splicing, and testing of fiber optics. Your work is integral to maintaining and expanding our network, making you a key part of our connected world. Primary Position Duties Operate bucket truck and other equipment related to aerial fiber construction. Prepare and splice all sizes of fiber sheaths in both aerial and underground environments. Use fusion splicers, OTDRs, optical power meters and other tools necessary for preparing and splicing fiber. Read and interpret fiber matrices. Update and maintain fiber matrices. Perform mid-sheath fiber entries. Understand and follow OSHA safety requirements to complete jobs safely and efficiently. Communicate by phone frequently throughout the workday. Follow direction(s) specifically delivered from crew leader. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Physical demands: work primarily in the field, outdoors in all types of weather, exposure to dust, fluctuating temperatures, and high noise levels. Job duties: use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stand, talk, and hear regularly. Travel: may be required to assist with new project start-ups at other project sites in different states; travel may be for up to a 28-day period. Must meet physical requirements of the position. Education or Skills High school diploma or its equivalent. 1 to 2 years of technical training and/or experience. Previous experience in a cable construction environment is preferred. Must be able to work nights and weekends if necessary. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
