Packaging Engineer - E2
Overview
In this role you will design innovative, cost-aware packaging solutions that protect products across their lifecycle while supporting brand presentation. You will work within MFC-Primary to balance performance, manufacturability, and sustainability, leveraging material science, mechanical design, and regulatory knowledge. You will lead concept development, testing, and validation, using CAD and simulation tools to reduce prototypes. This position offers meaningful impact in shaping packaging strategy within a mission-driven defense contractor, with collaboration across product development, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory affairs.

ResponsibilitiesConcept and design of packaging using CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD) based on product specsDefine packaging specifications: material thickness, cushioning, barrier properties, sealing, labeling, tolerancesAlign packaging specs with cost targets, supply-chain constraints, and sustainability goalsPlan and execute physical tests (compression, drop, vibration, climate, shock, moisture, tamper-evidence)Use simulation tools (FEA, Drop-Test software) to predict performance and reduce prototypesPrepare failure reports and iterate designs based on test resultsApply regulations for hazardous materials and industry standardsCollaborate with product development, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and regulatory affairs to embed packaging requirements early in development
