This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional with strong multi-state and union payroll experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment.Position OverviewThe Payroll Accountant will be responsible for managing and processing complex payroll operations for a multi-state workforce, including union employees, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This individual will work closely with accounting, HR, and operations teams to maintain accurate payroll records and support reporting needs.Key Responsibilities:Process weekly payroll for union employees across multiple statesEnsure compliance with prevailing wage, union agreements, garnishments, and payroll tax regulationsMaintain accurate payroll records, deductions, benefits, and timekeeping dataReconcile payroll accounts and assist with month-end close activitiesPrepare payroll-related journal entries and reportsCoordinate with HR and accounting teams regarding employee changes, audits, and compliance mattersRespond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional mannerAssist with year-end processing including W-2s and payroll auditsAnalyze payroll data and generate reports using advanced Excel functionsQualifications:Bachelors degree in accounting or related field required 3+ years of recent union payroll processing experience, preferably within the construction industry required Knowledge of prevailing wage and certified payroll processes Experience with Sage payroll/accounting software strongly preferredAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills required (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, formulas, reporting)Strong understanding of payroll tax laws and compliance requirementsHigh level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detailAbility to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretionCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive compensation based on experienceComprehensive benefits packageStable and collaborative work environmentOpportunity to join a respected and growing organization in the construction industry
