Shipfitter – LOCATED ON SITE IN Charleston, SC - This is a traveling position to Charleston, SC Per Diem OfferedPay: $45/hrPer Diem: $140/day (for qualified travelers)Schedule: Full‐time, long‐term opportunityWe are seeking experienced Shipfitters for a major shipbuilding and repair project in the Charleston, SC area. This is a high‐level skilled trade position requiring strong structural fitting experience within shipyard environments.Position OverviewThe Shipfitter will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing structural components on naval and commercial vessels. This role requires precision, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and experience working in fast‐paced shipyard environments.ResponsibilitiesLayout, fit, and fabricate metal structures according to blueprints and specificationsInstall bulkheads, foundations, decks, frames, and other structural componentsPerform cutting, grinding, burning, and tack welding as neededUse measuring tools, levels, squares, and shipyard equipmentWork safely in confined spaces, at heights, and in various shipyard conditionsCollaborate with welders, pipefitters, and other trades to complete assigned tasksFollow all safety protocols and shipyard proceduresRequirementsMinimum 5 years of shipfitting experience (required) ON A SHIPYARD PREVIOUSLYStrong blueprint reading and layout skillsProficiency with hand tools, torches, grinders, and shipyard equipmentAbility to work in confined spaces and at heightsReliable transportation and ability to work full shiftsMust be able to lift, bend, climb, and perform physical tasksCompensation & Benefits$45 per hour, based on experience$140/day per diem for eligible travelersLong‐term, stable projectOvertime opportunities may be availableJob Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Mobile, AL.Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $55.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
