Controller Position Type: Remote (Must be located in the Washington DC Area)Department: FinanceContact Government Services (CGS) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead our accounting operations and financial management functions. This role is critical to ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight as we continue to grow. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in services-based organizations (legal, IT, or government contracting) and thrives in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, A/R, A/P, and monthly closeMaintain and ensure accuracy of P&L and Balance Sheet reportingManage both cash and accrual accounting processesSupport annual audits and ensure compliance with GAAP standardsLead end-of-year tax preparation and coordinationMaintain detailed financial records, including gross and net profit at global, project, and resource levelsOversee invoice generation (approximately 300 invoices/month)Manage treasury functions, including banking relationships, line of credit, and credit card programsDevelop and maintain cash flow and accrual projections for executive leadershipProvide financial analysis, identify trends, and highlight potential risksSupport multiple teams, projects, and customers simultaneouslySupervise and mentor accounting staffQualificationsCPA required10+ years of progressive accounting experiencePrior experience as a ControllerBackground in services industries (legal, IT, or government contracting preferred)Strong experience with QuickBooks and UnanetProven experience supporting audits and ensuring GAAP complianceHands-on experience with A/R and A/P functionsDemonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-project financial environmentsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent leadership and communication abilitiesAdditional RequirementsMust be located in the DMV areaAbility to go in-office at least once per week (mail handling and administrative needs)$140,000 - $160,000 a year
