Sr. High Voltage Test TechnicianJob Category: Electronics Test TechniciansFull-TimeOn-siteAccident, MD 21520, USADescriptionJob SummaryThe Sr. High Voltage Test Technician will operate and perform testing, troubleshooting, and calibration of Doble Engineering test equipment for the Phenix Technologies product line. The individual must be capable of meeting multiple deadlines for large test equipment. This role will be based in our Accident, MD location reporting to Test Department Supervisor.Essential Job FunctionsRead and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematicsTest, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair all other Phenix / Doble equipment including MTS R2 units, VLF Thumper, X-ray tester, plasma generator etc. In addition to all tier 1 and tier 2 equipment.Testing and calibration of all portable products units when necessaryComplete all load calculations for duty cycle testingPerform partial discharge measurements along with a high level of diagnosis and repairComplete upgrades, repairs, and calibrations on non-phenix unitsUse of kilovoltmeters, multi-meters, potential transformers, current transformers, and other equipment used for testing and calibrating high voltage, high current test equipmentDocument complete test procedures performed on test equipmentRecord all test, calibration, and system dataWork directly with Engineering team on design changes and issues that arise while testing and calibratingComplete all necessary documentation for test equipment including filling out standard logs, certifications, and documents to prepare the unit for shipmentMake recommendations to improve design, quality, or production methods and processesComplete all factory acceptance tests including in person and virtual trainingWork directly with customers to resolve troubleshooting issuesAssist with telephone support regarding all familiar unitsCommunicate with Engineering, Service Department, and Sales to meet demands of testing activitiesAssist and train Service Technicians on the operation and functionality of newly designed test equipmentMaintain a clean and safe work environmentDecision-Making LatitudeThe Test Technician is responsible for confirming test equipment is designed, manufactured, and meets all sales specifications listed on the Sales OrderThe Test Technician may work with the test engineer or a design engineer to make design changes to a unit. All changes must be documented and reported to the Design Engineer.The Test Technician is responsible for confirming the calibration of the test equipment accurately meets specificationsQualificationsEducation:Associates Degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics, or greater.2 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.Required Experience:5+ years of experience in high voltage, high current, and high-power test products.Proper use of electrical test equipment to include oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and similar type equipmentHighly efficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.Preferred Experience (Not Required):Experience with Programmable Logic ControllersExperience with high voltage, high current test equipmentFamiliar and comfortable interacting with customersAbility to operate fork truck, manlift, and overhead cranesKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Ability to work independentlyAbility to professionally communicate with customersPhysical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Must use assistance when lifting more than 50 pounds.Salary:Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
