Founding AI & Full-Stack Engineer

About Makeable Every human is creative. But turning an idea into a physical product still means finding engineers, designers, coders and suppliers. We believe creating products should not be limited to people with technical skills. Makeable is building a platform that helps everyday people turn an idea into a usable physical hardware product, without needing an engineering team. We are bringing together 3D design, tested compatible electronics, generated software and clear assembly guidance. Our long-term vision is for people to make, share and eventually sell products created from their own ideas and experiences. We have raised a $1M pre-seed round from Afore Capital.
The role: Own the full-stack platform that turns a plain-language idea into a supported product plan, compatible electronics, generated software, and clear assembly guidance. This role focuses on frontend, backend, language-model integration, agents, and reliable end-to-end product delivery. A separate Computational Geometry & CAD Engineer owns geometry post-processing, dimensional constraints, mesh repair, and manufacturability.
What you will do:
  • Build product features across React and TypeScript interfaces, Next.js, and Node.js backend services.
  • Build reliable language-model and agent workflows with tool calling, structured outputs, evaluations, and clear failure handling.
  • Integrate geometry services with the platform in collaboration with our geometry specialist and generative-design research team; you are not expected to own CAD kernels or mesh repair.
  • Turn user prompts into structured AI outputs for supported components, wiring, firmware, and assembly steps.
  • Build compatibility-aware workflows that suggest only tested electronics from Makeable’s component library. Handle unsupported requests clearly rather than inventing parts or compatibility.
  • Ship end-to-end product improvements, evaluate failures, and test against real physical builds.
What we are looking for:
  • Strong full-stack fundamentals: React, TypeScript, backend APIs, databases, and deployed applications. Our stack includes Next.js and Node.js.
  • Hands-on work with AI model APIs, tool calling, structured generation, evaluation, or agent workflows.
  • Strong programming projects showing frontend and backend ownership. Hardware, robotics, or 3D experience is a bonus, not a requirement.
  • GitHub, technical projects, or shipped work demonstrating independent execution.
  • Undergraduate students and recent bachelor's graduates are encouraged to apply, especially from Singapore and U.S. universities. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and related backgrounds are welcome. No master's degree, PhD, or prior full-time experience is required.
Timing and location Paid, full-time internship starting November 2026 for approximately 12 weeks. Pay is USD 19.61 to USD 20.20 per hour, based on 40 hours per week. San Francisco preferred; exceptional remote candidates based in the United States or Singapore considered. Tell us your earliest start date and weekly availability. Strong performers may be considered for a full-time role after the internship, with compensation and equity discussed separately at that time.
How to apply: Trying Makeable is optional. Apply through this Indeed listing. Share your strongest shipped project, what you personally built, and one thing you would improve about Makeable. Include a live demo or repository and explain one AI or platform failure you diagnosed. Share your location, earliest start date, weekly availability, and ability to commit for 12 weeks. No new unpaid project is required to apply. Starting intern pay: approximately US$3,400/month for US placements; S$3,000/month for Singapore placements. For San Francisco placements, flights, visa costs, accommodation, food and local transport are covered.
