By targeting pathogens specifically, we eliminate harmful off-target effects.Position: Bioinformatician with AI/ML Expertise Location: Innatrix, RTP, NC Job Type: In-person with remote option Industry: Biotechnology / Agriculture / Life SciencesPosition SummaryInnatrix is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Bioinformatician to support the development of our plant pest/pathogen molecular target identification platform. The candidate will have a strong background in bioinformatics, genomics, and transcriptomics, with experience applying AI/ML methods to large-scale biological data. You will work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment to mine datasets for molecular targets to support the development of innovative solutions for crop protection.Key ResponsibilitiesLead technology strategy planning and execution, coordinating internal teams and external partners to deliver projects efficiently.Analyze and interpret large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, and multi-omics datasets to identify novel plant pathogen/pest targets essential for infection and survival.Apply machine learning and statistical methods to identify and narrow the list of candidate targets to those most likely to be useful for pest and pathogen mitigation.Develop, maintain, and optimize computational pipelines using Python or R.Contribute to project planning, timeline management, and data-driven decision-making.Communicate results and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports, presentations, and documentation.Required QualificationsMS in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science (with AI/ML experience), Genomics, or a closely related field.Proficiency in Python and/or R for bioinformatics analyses and data visualization.Hands-on experience with Linux-based computing environments and command-line tools.Demonstrated ability to manage and execute projects involving large-scale biological datasets.Strong background in genomics and transcriptomics, including data processing, quality control, and interpretation.Excellent communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail and timelines.Preferred QualificationsExpertise in plant biology, plant pathology, or plant–pathogen/pest interactions.Embrace and embody Innatrix’s core values (Our Core Values at Innatrix – Innatrix)Entrepreneurial leader: prepared to lead initiatives that advance Innatrix’s technology and commercial growth.Experience in industry settings, particularly in agricultural biotechnology, crop protection, or related sectors.Familiarity with public data repositories and relevant bioinformatics tools.Track record of publications, patents, or product development in the plant or ag-tech space is a plus.
