What You'll Do
As a Diesel Technician C, you'll support preventive maintenance and assist senior technicians with basic repairs:
Assist drivers with daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
Perform safety lane checks and preventive maintenance services
Lubricate vehicles and service scheduled grease points
Learn and assist with brake inspections and documentation
Perform basic repairs on heavy-duty and light-duty vehicles, including:
Rear Loaders
Front Loaders
Roll-Off Trucks
Grapple Trucks
Port-a-let and other service equipment
Assist with identifying basic vehicle issues (lights, mirrors, leaks, body damage, etc.)
Support fluid top-offs (oil, hydraulic fluid, transmission fluid, DEF, etc.)
Assist with tire inspections and air pressure checks
Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
Complete basic documentation, parts usage, and work order entries
Follow factory service manuals and company safety procedures
Communicate with drivers and senior technicians regarding vehicle condition
What We're Looking For
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn diesel systems
Ability to assist with inspections, lubrication, and preventive maintenance tasks
Familiarity with basic vehicle components (fluids, tires, lights, mirrors, etc.)
Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
Basic computer skills for work orders and documentation
Strong focus on safety, reliability, and attention to detail
Prior diesel or automotive experience preferred but not required

The employee must be able to
Consistently use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by company policy
Maintain the stamina necessary to perform steady physical work throughout the workday
Perform frequent physical movement, including walking, bending, twisting, crouching, and lifting
Work safely in environments with exposure to waste materials
Physical demands include
Entering and exiting a commercial vehicle cab 50-100 times per day
Lifting requirements:
Up to 75 lbs from floor to waist height unassisted
Up to 50 lbs from floor to shoulder height unassisted
Up to 50 lbs overhead unassisted
Pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs unassisted
Performing repetitive movements 100-200 times per day, including:
Bending at the knees and waist
Reaching overhead or outward with extended arms
Twisting at the waist
Working in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and roadside service environments
Work Environment
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings
Regular exposure to environmental conditions associated with waste collection and fleet operations
Occasional exposure to extreme weather during field assignments and road call situations
