Sheet Metal Roofer
Overview
We are seeking skilled sheet metal installers. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with various metal materials and possess the technical skills necessary to fabricate, install, and repair sheet metal products. This s role is essential for ensuring that all projects meet quality standards and are completed efficiently.
Responsibilities
Installation of Metal Roofs:
Measure, cut, and shape metal sheets to fit specific roofing designs.
Secure metal sheets to roofing structures using fasteners, welding, or other techniques.
Install roofing accessories such as flashing, gutters, and downspouts.
Apply weather-resistant materials and sealants to prevent leaks.
Repair and Maintenance:
Inspect existing metal roofs for damage, wear, or leaks.
Perform repairs, including patching holes, resealing joints, and replacing damaged metal panels.
Clean and maintain the roof to ensure its longevity and effectiveness.
Work with Blueprints and Plans:
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine roof layouts and materials.
Work closely with construction teams to ensure that the roof is installed according to specifications.
Safety and Quality Control:
Follow safety protocols, including wearing protective equipment (PPE), and ensure safe work practices.
Ensure that roofing systems are installed correctly and meet building codes and regulations.
Tool and Equipment Use:
Operate tools such as shears, saws, hammers, drills, and welding machines.
Maintain and troubleshoot roofing tools and equipment.
Skills and Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience in roofing or sheet metal work is preferred, especially in a commercial or industrial setting.
Knowledge of Materials: Familiarity with different types of metal roofing materials (e.g., aluminum, steel, copper).
Physical Fitness: Ability to work at heights and perform manual labor.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring all measurements are accurate and materials are properly installed.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues with the roof and make necessary repairs efficiently.
Work Environment
Physical Demands: The role involves lifting heavy materials, climbing ladders, and working on rooftops.
Workplace: Sheet metal roofers typically work outside in high heat and may be exposed to various weather conditions.
Schedule: Work may be seasonal or depend on the type of projects, with some overtime or weekend work required.
Requirements
Ability to work legally in the state of Florida
Have a valid driver's license or state ID
Must be able to pass a drug screen
1 year of roofing experience required
Must be able to speak and understand English
Good driving record preferred
