Food Service Manager - Mendota Mental Health Institute

IntroductionThe Department of Health Services (DHS), Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) is recruiting for a Food Service Manager.This position’s primary shift will be 6:00am-2:30pm. This position is the main early relief responsible for covering the 5:00am-1:30 shift when that manager is off. On occasion, this position may also fill in for the 10:15am-6:45pm shift. This position will be assigned to work the following additional shifts as well:One early weekend shift from 5:00am to 1:00pm per month.One late weekend shift from 10:45am to 6:45pm per month.MMHI is located on the north side of Madison and offers a beautiful campus environment, convenient free parking and an onsite workout facility. Duties include:providing managerial, supervisory and liaison services in the department and with other departments as requiredmaintaining high standards of sanitation, safety, and good housekeeping.Salary InformationThe starting pay for this position is between $30.46 and $34.00 per hour (approximately $63,300 and $70,700 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule/range 81/04.Job DetailsAll applicants will be required to allow the DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by MMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. In order to become authorized to drive a State vehicle, you must meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy, which are:Must have a valid driver's license,Must have minimum of two years licensed driving experience,Must be 18 years of age.Additionally, your driving record MUST NOT reflect any of the following conditions:Three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two years,Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)/Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within the past 12 months,Suspension or revocation of driver's license.QualificationsMinimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:Experience performing daily operational duties in food service in a cafeteria setting or other high volume food service setting (e.g., serving food, following proper food handling safety and sanitation practices, completing food production sheets, food ordering, etc.).Experience serving in a supervisor or leadership role in food service (e.g., scheduling, training, mentoring, coaching, evaluating performance, disciplining, etc.).Experience providing customer service in a food service role.Well-qualified candidates will also have one or more of the following:Experience working with computer programs related to food service operations (e.g., nutrition analysis, menu preparation, diet orders, etc.).Experience with food purchasing, quality control, and inventory control.Experience or education with food production and service for specialized/therapeutic diets in a healthcare setting.Your letter of qualifications is limited to one (1) page.
