This position prepares high-quality meals, leads daily kitchen operations, supports menu planning, and ensures all food safety standards are consistently met.Key Responsibilities:Prepares soups, stocks, and sauces, and boils, braises, and roasts dishes according to standardized recipes.Cooks and serves sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed, and baked items following standardized recipes.Oversees or directly prepares all menu items, ensuring adherence to standard recipes and special dietary requirements. Plans food production to align with meal service hours, maintaining food quality, temperature, and presentation.Determines the quantity and types of food and supplies needed for daily menus, ensuring timely retrieval from storage for efficient meal preparation.Trains and collaborates with new Cooks to ensure consistent adherence to standards.Assists Chefs in developing specials and new menu items for dining venues.Supports the Executive Chef with ordering and inventory management as needed.Maintains clean working areas and ensures compliance with cleaning schedules.Provides supervisory leadership during shifts in the absence of Chefs.OTHER DUTIES:Keeps the assigned workstation clean, organized, and in compliance with safety and sanitation standards.Adheres to personal hygiene guidelines and follows the department's dress code.Participates in assigned in-service training and educational sessions to stay updated on best practices.Completes specific tasks and responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.What You'll Need:Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.A minimum of 5 to 7 years' experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, club, or similar institution is strongly preferredAbility to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards.Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.Ability to teach new employees and lead a culinary staff.Minimum 2 years supervisory experiencePhysical Requirements:Must be able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to bend, stoop, and stretch frequently throughout the day. Moderate to heavy physical effort is needed infrequently. Manual dexterity for preparing food. Ability to use standard industrial kitchen appliances required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently. May be exposed to extreme temperatures (freezers and stove-range burners) for short periods of time. May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals.
