Live the MissionPosition SummaryThe GraduateNurse (GN) delivers quality nursing care to patients through interpersonal contact and provides care andservices to assure patient safety and attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each patient in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standardsReports to supervising licensed nurseWorking ConditionsFunctions only under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse who agrees to act as supervisor and who is immediatelyavailable to the GNWorks in department as well as throughout facilitySubject to frequent interruptionsInvolved with patients, associates, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc. under all conditions and circumstancesSubject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, etcWorks beyond normal working hours, on weekends andholidays, and in other positions temporarily as necessaryAttends and participates in continuing education programsSubject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout the workdayPossible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and hepatitis B viruses, and COVID-19Education, Experience, and Licensure/CertificationsNursing students in their last semester and graduate nursing students must practice under the direction and supervision of alicensed nurse, performing tasks within the scope of practice of thesupervising nurse of equal or higher educational preparationMust have CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employmentSpecific RequirementsMust work within scope of practice as defined by the Massachusetts Chapter 88, Acts of 2024 and facility standardsMay not practice under this authorization, prior to obtaining a nursing license, for more than one (1) year from the date of hire. The graduate may not practice underthis authorization if they receive a failing score on the NCLEX examinationMay not represent themselves to be a registered nurse or licensed practical nurseMust possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actionMust have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm as well as willingness to handle difficult patientsMust be knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute care facilityMust have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the nursing departmentMust perform proficiently in all applicable competency areasMaintains professional workingrelationships with all associates, vendors, etcMaintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential informationMust understand andfollow company policies including harassment and compliance proceduresDisplays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance trainingEssential FunctionsMust be able to knowledgeably and competently deliver quality nursing care topatientsMust be able to evaluate patient needs through ongoing assessment and revise care plans based on changes in patient's conditionMust be able to chart appropriately and timelyMust exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patientsMust be able to assist in the evacuation of patientsMust demonstrate dependable, regular attendanceMust be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgmentMust be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary teamMust be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hoursMust be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English languageMust be able to lift 35 lbs floor to waist, lift 35 lbs waist to shoulder, lift and carry 35 lbs, and push/pull 35 lbs
