Part Time Nurse

The D.S. Chen Health and Wellness Center serves the Deerfield Academy community and we are seeking a Registered Nurse for a part-time position during the academic year beginning in late March 2026.Hours needed include evening shifts: every Tuesday and every other Friday evening per week, 2:30 PM-10:30 PM, as well as one weekend of Saturday and Sunday 2:30 PM-10:30 PM per month.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesWithin our licensed clinic and 12-bed infirmary:Provide appropriate individual health care and education to Deerfield students and employees.Follow written and/or verbal orders per the Health Center Physician (MD) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) as per nursing standard of practiceTriage injuries, active management of sports injuries, assessment and treatment of both outpatients and inpatients, and psychotropic medications administration;Independently recognize emergency situations and initiate appropriate intervention and treatment, sending the student to the hospital as appropriate and calling for extra help as neededMaintain a high level of nursing care, following professional nursing standards and abiding by the Health Center's policies, procedures and Standing Orders with emphasis on clinical safety, quality and effective communication.Provide a professional, compassionate approach towards all students, their families, employees, and all others involved with the health and well-being of the studentsComply with all HIPAA policies and regulationsDocument thoroughly and appropriately in the Health Center's electronic medical record systemDraw blood, calls in prescriptions, dispense medications, administer immunizations and perform other medical procedures and tests as deemed necessary, and as ordered by the MD/NPOther duties as assignedJob SpecificationsAssociates Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's Degree preferred, from an accredited school1 - 3 years clinical nursing experience, preferably with adolescents in a health care settingValid Massachusetts RN licenseCurrent BLS certificationEffective communication and decision making capabilities requiredAbility to be flexible requiredAbility to work independently as well as in a team environmentAbility to work with a wide range of people in a diplomatic and professional mannerAbility to use a computer, MS Office suite, and EHR systemDemonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community;Ability to manage, and sensitivity to, highly confidential informationPhysical DemandsClose visual acuity to view a computer terminal and reportsAbility to stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, feel and hearAbility to frequently bend and liftAbility to stand and sit for sustained periods of timeAbility to climb stairsAbility to occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.Ability to occasionally push/pull up to 200 lbs.Working ConditionsThe nurse is in an outpatient medical clinic as well as an inpatient infirmary.
