Electrical Senior Design Engineer

Electrical Senior DesignerJob DescriptionProvide essential technical knowledge and perform design work as described below. This positionserves as a staff designer performing assignments of intermediate complexity.Under direct supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Design Supervisor, prepare andcheck designs of intermediate complexity utilizing 3D modeling and 2D Computer-AidedDrafting and Design (CADD) automation toolsCoordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clientsExecute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and proceduresExecute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselinesPerform bulk material take-off analysis and tabulationsProvide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurementand subcontracting including review of vendor submittalsProvide technical support to activities associated with construction administration includingresponse to construction requests-for-information and field changesOther duties as assignedBasic Job RequirementsU.S. Citizenship requiredAssociate degree in related technical field of study and minimum ten (10) years of workrelatedexperienceWorking knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state,and local codes and standardsAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to projectmanagement, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractorsJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the jobKnowledge of discipline codes and standardsAbility to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutesand guidelinesAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective mannerIntermediate computer and software skills to include proficiency in the use of wordprocessing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programsExperience providing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) serviceson industrial projectsProficiency executing engineering projects utilizing 3D modeling and 2D CADD automationtools in a multi-discipline environmentDiscipline Specific Job RequirementsBackground and experience must include drafting / designer experience in engineeringfields, such as electrical, instrumentation and control or communicationsProficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) (Bentley MicroStation) with demonstratedexperience to originate and produce drawings with minimum supervision requiredProficiency in 3D modeling using Intergraph Smart3D (S3D)Ability to walk down field systems with minimal guidance, interpret field direction, generateminor design details, create new drawings, modify existing drawings, and direct juniordraftersPerform advanced design calculations (lighting, raceway sizing and wire sizing)Perform intermediate design calculations (voltage drop, cable pulling, panel board andbreaker sizing, and junction box sizingPerform electrical material take-offPerform field assistancePreferred QualificationsKnowledge of commercial availability and cost of materialsExperience with design of systems, structures, and components for nuclear facilities underthe requirements of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NQA-1Practical field experienceEPC project experience for the following industries:U.S Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government AgencyNuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance programManufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnologyAdvanced knowledge of:2D CAD and 3D CAD systems and proceduresIntergraph SmartPlant Electrical softwareIntergraph SmartPlant Review softwareElectrical design requirements (grounding / earthing, lighting, wiring, motors, conduitfill and sizing, panel boards and hazardous locations
