Special Education Teacher - Berwyn, IL

Make an impact in a specialized middle school program dedicated to students with autism and intellectual disabilities. A full-time contract position is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to help deliver intensive communication and functional skills instruction. The role spans from August 14 through November 1, with potential for extension, and supports students as they develop both academic abilities and essential life skills. What we're looking for:Current LBS1 and Professional Educator License (PEL) required; include a screenshot of your license as an additional page with your resume.Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or in functional/life skills classrooms strongly preferred.Confidence in implementing functional and life skills curriculum alongside academic objectives.Comfortable utilizing Unique Learning curriculum materials and involving students in practical activities such as cooking, laundry, and community-based field trips.Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and related service providers to support a classroom of 9 students.Willingness to work onsite and participate in an in-person interview process. Responsibilities include:Planning and delivering instruction that addresses both academic and daily living needs.Differentiating instruction and using a variety of communication and engagement strategies.Managing and guiding two paraprofessionals for maximal student support.Monitoring student progress and maintaining documentation.Coordinating with families and services to support individualized learning goals.
