Nursing AssistantThe Nursing Assistant supports the nursing team by assisting with resident care, monitoring health concerns, maintaining medical supplies, and helping to facilitate daily medical operations. The role ensures that youth receive basic health support in alignment with OCFS, DOH, and agency protocols. The Nursing Assistant contributes to a safe, clean, and supportive environment for all residents.Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is a human services nonprofit supporting the well-being of children, youth, families, and individuals across New York City and Long Island since 1929. Our staff of more than 500 builds well-being by providing prevention services, foster care, residential treatment care, adoption services, programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities, and medical and mental health services.Principle ResponsibilitiesAssist nurses with basic resident care including vital signs, weight checks, monitoring symptoms, and general comfort supportSupport medication administration workflows including preparation and documentation under nursing supervisionMaintain medical rooms, supplies, equipment, and cleanliness standardsEscort residents to appointments, internal clinics, or external providers as neededSupport infection control procedures and safety protocolsAssist with documentation tasks including filing, preparing packets, and updating records under supervisionCommunicate resident concerns promptly to nursing staffSupport health education activities and wellness routinesRespond to routine and urgent needs under direction of a nurseRequired Qualifications and ExperienceHigh school diploma requiredCertified Nursing Assistant credential preferred but not required depending on program regulationsAbility to follow instructions, maintain confidentiality, and communicate effectivelyBasic knowledge of health and safety practicesPreferred QualificationsExperience working with children or adolescents preferredThis position offers a full-time, in-person schedule and may require occasional local travel.With more than 250 years of combined experience, Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York and St. John's Residence for Boys have a long-standing history of serving children, youth, adults and families of color.
