System Engineer
Robert Half's client is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support for Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) acquisition programs, including technical oversight, requirements management, systems integration, interoperability, test and evaluation, configuration management, and technical risk assessment throughout the Systems Engineering Lifecycle (SELC) and Acquisition Lifecycle Framework (ALF).Responsibilities:Provide technical and engineering guidance analysis, and support across all aspects of engineering design, development, testing, and integration of RAS systems, in accordance with systems engineering lifecycle (SELC) standards.Conduct technical reviews of engineering documentation, including system specifications, design documents, test plans, and integration plans, ensuring compliance.Support the development and implementation of technical performance metrics and measures of effectiveness (MOEs) for RAS systems.Assist in identification and mitigation of technical risks and challenges.Provide guidance in areas such as robotics, autonomy, sensors, communications, power systems, and software engineering, relevant to RAS applications.Support the development and execution of test and evaluation (T&E) programs for RAS systems.Evaluate contractor technical proposals and provide recommendations, ensuring alignment with acquisition lifecycle (ALF) requirements.Conduct site visits to contractor facilities and client's operational locations to assess technical capabilities and identify areas for improvement.Prepare technical reports, briefings, and presentations on technical issues and recommendations.Provide technical assessments of proposed changes to RAS system designs, ensuring compliance with engineering change management processes.Support configuration management (CM) activities.Assists the PM by managing procurement schedules, tracking cross-domain progress, and drafting foundational programmatic documentation.Guarantees technical accuracy, configuration management, and stylistic consistency (grammar, tone, structure) across all baselined engineering documents and leadership briefs.Proactively identifies programmatic bottlenecks, technical hurdles, and safety hazards, ensuring mitigations are funded and tracked.Coordinates engineering capabilities with other offices and conducts cross-functional market research.Draft necessary programmatic documents for the standup of the PEO. Create and maintain Gantt charts for the procurement of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE). Generate internal weekly reports to track progress across multiple domains.Coordinate with stakeholders to author Mission Needs Statements (MNS), Concepts of Operations (CONOPs), Initial Requirements, Evaluation Criteria, Test Plans, and Test Reports.Create comprehensive technical curriculum and training materials for in-field operators to ensure safe and effective use of fielded RAS platforms.Requirements:U.S. Citizenship and active Secret clearance.3-10 years of relevant engineering experience.Strong technical writing and presentation skills.Bachelor's degree, preferably in an Engineering field.Onsite in Washington DC
