Job SummaryThe Boilermaker 1 performs maintenance and installs equipment related to various types of towers, heat exchanges, heaters, and plant piping to blueprint specifications, using power tools and hand tools.Essential FunctionsDesign, install, and repair boilers used to heat water for generating electric power or providing heat in refineriesAttach water tubes, stacks and liners, safety and check valves, and water and pressure gaugesConnect fire tubes to head or water tubes to drain and headers of boilersDrill and tap holes for installation of studsTighten bolts to assemble frames, using power or hand wrenchesBolts or screws accessories such as manholes, hand holes, fans, gauges, and valves to vesselsReplaces defective parts, using power wrenches prying bars or hand toolsMay perform general piping work such as line breaking, installing blinds, gasketsMay install equipment internals, packings, catalysts, and desiccants in vessels.Inspect, clean, maintain and repair equipmentKnowledge of materials, methods, and tools needed in constructionPerform daily maintenance and safety checksEnsure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culturePerform other duties as requested, directed, or assignedEducation And Experience RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredAt least 3 years’ experience as a boilermakerNCCER is requiredSkills / Key CompetenciesKnowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of towers, heaters, exchangers, and refinery pipingAbility to read and interpret blueprintsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day informationExcellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing prioritiesAbility to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results orientedAbility to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailAbility to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlinesAbility to work non-routine hours, when necessaryAbility and willingness to travel as requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areasMoving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to anotherAbility to operate job related toolsConstantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingersWork that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with helpBay Ltd. is an Equal Opportunity Employer
