Job SummaryThis position supports Departmental purposes by providing skilled technical laboratory support to the assigned department in accordance with California Business and Professions Code Section 1269 and under the direct and constant supervision of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS). Performs scheduled maintenance, testing, and quality control processes on complex automated equipment and instruments, including the preparation of reagents. Ensures timely and accurate specimen receipt and accessioning and prepares and/or processes various body fluids, tissues, and fecal material for analysis. Oversees inventory for assigned department to include monitoring and ordering supplies. Supports the department by answering telephones, filing, and required recordkeeping. May provide laboratory technical instruction and training to new Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Residents, and CLS students.Apply By Date: May 30, 2026 at 11:59pm. Selection activities may start at any time.Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the positionHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent or equivalent work experienceMinimum three (3) years’ experience as an HLT I or equivalent in an accredited clinical laboratory.Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology (anatomy, medical conditions, symptoms, test methods, treatment).Ability to maintain records accurately and legibly.Demonstrated competency achievement to operate technical equipment and analytical systems used to perform work accurately and proficiently.Demonstrated manual dexterity.Ability to maintain patient/coworker safety and comfort through demonstrated safety precaution knowledge when working in a laboratory environment.Proficient knowledge of personal computer, word processing, data management, spreadsheet software, Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR).Ability to interact professionally with patients, visitors, doctors, hospital staff and coworkersAbility to maintain the security of confidential information.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology. Experience with principles of quality control and quality assurance in order to recognize processes that could lead to test failures. Experience writing clear technical reports and/or policies and procedures. Experience with regulatory requirements pertaining to the clinical laboratory.
