Industrial Service Technician

Job Summary The Industrial & Commercial HVAC/R Field Technician works directly under the Field Supervisor to provide on-demand service to CAPS customers. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of comfort and process-classified and non-classified HVAC/R equipment. The technician will deliver quality solutions while maintaining safety, efficiency, and strong customer service. Key Responsibilities Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot industrial and commercial heating, cooling, refrigeration, and ventilation systems. Diagnose service issues, obtain replacement parts, calibrate systems to manufacturer specifications, and clearly explain issues and solutions to customers. Document equipment details, including make, model, serial number, building served, test measurements, and photos as needed. Provide timely and effective solutions to meet customer demands. Communicate effectively with customers, dispatch, supervisors, and management. Travel to job sites, follow scheduled service calls, and notify dispatch/customers of delays as needed. Be available for night or weekend emergency service on a rotating basis. Maintain company vehicle, including refueling, reporting mechanical issues, and completing monthly vehicle inspections. Keep vehicle stocked with parts, tools, and safety equipment. Operate field service software applications and demonstrate basic computer proficiency. Participate in company training to stay current on the latest HVAC/R technologies. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Preferred Skills Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and blueprints. Experience with chillers, ice machines, and industrial controls. Experience with boilers, steam heating, and classified HVAC/R equipment. Familiarity with Aaon and Addison equipment. Required Certifications Universal EPA Certification Required Qualifications Clean background, drug-free, and clear driving record. Highly dependable, punctual, and flexible to work varying schedules. Strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills. Knowledge of industrial HVAC/R systems (DX, water-cooled chillers, air pressurization, scrubber systems, pneumatic/digital energy management controls). Understanding of industrial safety rules and regulations. Ability to work independently, troubleshoot, and complete jobs correctly the first time. Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, maneuver heavy items, carry ladders, and work at heights. Comfortable working on DX comfort and process equipment up to 50 tons. Basic computer skills and experience with app-based field service software. Work Experience Required 3–5 years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of HVAC/R equipment in industrial and commercial settings.
