Part-Time DispatchersAmherst County is seeking qualified Part-Time Dispatchers to join our Emergency Communications team. This position plays a critical role in public safety by receiving emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatching appropriate emergency response units.
Position SummaryUnder general supervision, the dispatcher receives calls from the public, obtains accurate and detailed information, and transmits that information to emergency response personnel in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPromote a professional, ethical, and courteous image as a representative of Amherst CountyReceive and process 911 and non-emergency calls for serviceObtain precise information and dispatch appropriate emergency personnelEnter and retrieve data using NCIC/VCIN, EMD, and teletype systemsMonitor field units and maintain awareness of unit locations and activitiesAssist in coordinating emergency services during county-wide emergenciesProcess and maintain records and paperwork from the Sheriff's Department, Courts, and Magistrate's Office, including warrants, protective orders, and investigative reportsPerform routine office and housekeeping dutiesRemain available for call-back during emergenciesPerform other related duties as assignedThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
