Job Description Position OverviewVision IT is seeking a Personnel Online Database Software Developer to support mission-critical Department of Defense operations at Los Angeles Air Force Base. This role is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing secure database-driven applications that manage personnel data and related mission support information.Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates.The Software Developer will work in a secure DoD environment to ensure reliable data management, system performance, and cybersecurity compliance for personnel database systems.(This Position is Contingent Upon Award)Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain personnel database applications and web-based systemsDevelop secure, efficient, and scalable database solutions to support personnel data managementCreate, modify, and optimize database structures, queries, and stored proceduresDevelop application interfaces for data entry, reporting, and system integrationEnsure data integrity, accuracy, availability, and confidentiality in accordance with DoD standardsSupport integration between personnel systems and other enterprise applications or data sourcesPerform troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning of database and application systemsEnsure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, STIGs, RMF requirements, and data handling standardsMaintain technical documentation for database design, system architecture, and application functionalitySupport testing, deployment, and configuration management activitiesCollaborate with system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and stakeholders to support mission requirementsRequired QualificationsActive DoD Secret Clearance or higher (must be current and transferable)CompTIA Security+ certification (required and compliant with DoD 8570/8140)Experience in software development and database application designStrong knowledge of relational database systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or similar)Experience with programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, or SQL)Understanding of secure coding practices and database security principlesFamiliarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements, including RMF and STIG complianceAbility to work onsite full-time at Los Angeles Air Force BasePreferred QualificationsExperience supporting DoD or federal personnel systems or HR-related databasesFamiliarity with web application frameworks and API integrationExperience with reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, SSRS, Tableau, or similar)Knowledge of Agile or DevSecOps development practicesExperience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps)Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsAdditional certifications such as CySA+, database certifications, or cloud certificationsWhy Vision IT?At Vision IT, we lead with People First, ensuring our employees and customers thrive.
