Process Engineer
About the Role
Based in Freeport, IL, the Process Engineer plays a pivotal role in the development, analysis, and optimization of manufacturing methods for hydrostatic transmission components. This position focuses on delivering high-quality, cost-effective engineering solutions that align with modern manufacturing standards. You will also oversee special projects, including the management of capital expenditures, the integration of new equipment, and the execution of continuous improvement strategies.
Core Responsibilities
Evaluate assembly and manufacturing workflows to boost efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Provide technical support to shop floor teams to help resolve tooling and process-related challenges.
Create and authorize the specific tooling and machinery needed for production and assembly operations.
Design and deploy new tooling and processes to accommodate product updates or the introduction of new items.
Manage capital projects from initial concept through to final implementation, ensuring budget control and proper justification.
Review current designs and methods to help the team achieve significant cost reductions and process enhancements.
Act as the primary technical contact for the Purchasing department regarding the acquisition of specialized equipment and materials.
Maintain and generate process documentation and routings for updated product configurations.
Apply established engineering methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, FMEA, DFM, and 8D Problem Solving to improve operational outcomes.
Utilize simulation tools and CAD/CAM software like AutoCAD, NX, or GibbsCAM to facilitate process development.
Support or directly handle the programming of system controls, PLCs, or CNC equipment as necessary.
Work across departments to ensure that production, safety, and quality objectives remain in alignment.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement while ensuring the facility maintains strict adherence to regulatory and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering is required.
At least 2 to 5 years of professional experience in a machining operations support role.
Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing best practices, assembly/test equipment, and machining processes.
Proven familiarity with ERP systems, CNC/PLC programming, and CAD/CAM software.

Compensation and Schedule
This is a full-time, first-shift position with a salary range of $75,000 to $95,000 per year, plus a 10% guaranteed annual bonus. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
