About The Team & RoleWEX, Inc. is seeking a Senior Enterprise AI Security Architect to help define the vision, strategy, and provide technical leadership for defining the security strategy, architecture, and governance for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) across the global enterprise. This individual will serve as a high-level visionary, bridging the gap between business requirements and technical security execution. You will be responsible for designing resilient security architectures that protect WEX’s global assets and people, ensuring robust compliance, while enabling rapid innovation. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert (SME), bridging the gap between Data Science, Software Engineering, and Cyber Security to build a robust Secure AI ecosystem.We’re the Global Information Security Team at WEX, responsible for implementing and operating security technologies and processes throughout WEX. We don’t just operate security tools; we engineer trust. Our team partners with executive leadership and cross-functional engineering groups to ensure WEX is secure by design. A collaborative, solid communicator who works well with your team and stakeholders to drive projects from inception to completionA Secure By Design Mindset: You value a "Secure by Design" philosophy and strive to integrate protection layers into the AI lifecycle without hindering the speed of innovationSomeone who cares deeply for team results but is able to work independently to deliver high quality solutions for projects and operational tasksComfortable balancing the need to move fast with the realities of working in a highly regulated organizationSomeone who thrives in situations where details and accuracy are vitalA skilled worker that has the motivation, expertise, and work ethic to operate independently across global time zones, and who is able to complete tasks and deliverables with minimal oversightWork closely with Enterprise IT and Product teams on securing WEX's infrastructure and runtime environmentsA mentor who enjoys sharing knowledge and can guide engineering teams through the secure implementation of generative AI and multi-agent systemsExperience you’ll bringHave 10+ years of experience in information security, including 3+ years in an enterprise security architecture role with a focus on emerging technologiesHave deep expertise in enterprise security architecture, including designing secure patterns for infrastructure, cloud, network, and identity as they relate to AI model hosting and agentic execution environmentsPossess a strong practical understanding of modern cloud and hybrid infrastructure (AWS, Azure), networking, and security engineering principlesHave extensive experience designing solutions that meet security, compliance, and business requirements for generative AI and autonomous systemsHave strong working knowledge of major regulatory and compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS, NIST, GDPR, SOX, or HITRUST and their evolving application to AI data privacyAre able to translate regulatory requirements into technical architecture standards and implementation guidanceHave experience reviewing and approving security architecture for complex enterprise systems including Large Language Models and multi-agent workflowsAre comfortable troubleshooting and advising on security or network issues in complex distributed environments including vector databases and inference endpointsCan drive projects and architectural initiatives independently, meeting delivery timelines for AI security guardrail implementation with minimal supervisionDemonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence technical and business stakeholdersAre familiar with ITIL concepts and their application to incident, problem, and change managementHold relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, CCSP, or equivalent specialized credentials in AI or machine learning securityIt Would Be Nice If YouHave experience securing AI infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code or have a background in software development with a focus on Python and machine learning librariesHave hands-on experience with enterprise security tooling, specifically applied to monitoring LLM inference and agentic activityHave experience designing or securing complex AI and ML systems including Retrieval Augmented Generation architectures and multi-agent autonomous systemsHave experience implementing real-time security guardrails and automated policy enforcement within cloud platforms for AI model deploymentHave contributed to enterprise security strategy, reference architectures, or security standards for the responsible and secure use of generative AIHave experience mentoring engineers or guiding security architecture reviews across multiple teamsThe base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
