Microbiology Technician

About the CompanyFocus on attention to detail, organization, and an enjoyment of biology/microbiology.About the RoleUnder the direction of scientists and technicians, the contractor is responsible for supporting the Microbial Repository. Under supervision, the contractor is expected to perform routine and non-routine tasks including but not limited to ordering supplies, cleaning and organizing lab areas, performing manual liquid transfers, operating automated liquid handlers, and storing and retrieving samples from freezers and shakers.ResponsibilitiesThe contractor will be responsible for picking samples from freezers for delivery to customers.Given a lighter workload in the Microbial Repository, the contractor may be expected to support activities and complete assigned tasks in other laboratories.The ideal candidate needs to be able to collaborate closely with the Microbial Repository technicians and scientists and complete tasks under their supervision to ensure effective day-to-day operations.QualificationsPrior experience in microbiology, biotechnology, biology, or related field are required.Prior experience using aseptic technique is required.Prior experience with automation is a plus.Required SkillsGood communication and time management skills are essential to this role.Preferred Skills:Excellent organizational skillsAseptic TechniqueStrong attention to detailPay range and compensation packagePay range: $20/hr. - $24/hr.Equal Opportunity StatementWe are committed to diversity and inclusivity.
